Nephin Sunrise Hike - 24th October
Join us for an unforgettable early morning adventure to catch first light breaking from the summit of Nephin, our favorite sunrise hike!
Nephin, Irelands highest standalone mountain dominates the landscape of North Mayo and is seen from all over the county and Sligo. This means standing on top of Nephins summit awards hikers with outstanding 360 views which are especially breathtaking when experienced as the sun peaks over the horizon to the east.
We’ll set off before dawn under starlight ascending along the northeastern spur which offers the quickest and most straightforward route for this mission. As the first light breaks across the surrounding Mayo and Sligo landscape we’ll arrive at the summit to wrap up to take a pause and soak in the amazing sunrise colours and views, the perfect time for hot cuppa!
This is a difficult level hike of 7.5km lasting approx 4.5 hours. Good level of fitness and some previous hiking experience required.
6:15am start at Nephin North Trailhead Carpark - finishing approxamitely 10:30am
