Kings Mountain - Imbolc Sunrise Hike 1/2/26
Meet the Imbolc rising sun from Kings Mountain, Co. Sligo.
We will start at 7:00am and ascend the short steep climb to the cliffs overlooking Glencar as the sun starts to rise. The amazing views back accross Swiss Valley and Glencar from this point are an unforgetable experience when seen in the early morning light.
We will then head for the summit of Kings Mountain with views accross Benbulben, Sligo and the surrounding mountains and ocean. Before finishing we will pay a visit to Annach Re Mhor, the incredible fissure running through the mountain side, a truly awe inspiring place.
This is a moderate level hike of 8km lasting approx 4 hours. Reasonable level of fitness and some previous hiking experience required.
7:00am start at Glencar, Parking location will be sent seperatly.
Finishing approx 11am
Hiking boots,
Suitable hiking clothing (no jeans or runners),
Waterproofs,
Warm layers hat and gloves,
Drink, snacks and rucksack/bag,
Headlamp
Walking poles (optional but recommended)
